Final Paris Photo/Video Joural

My final Paris photo journal from our trip. Although it broke my heart to leave Paris - again, I left with a lighter step this time. For I know this time, it won't be long until my city and I meet again.
At first I was a little nervous about Paris in the winter. Yes, I knew that I loved the city in the warmth of Summer, but could the love still hold on in the reality of winter? Yes, and again Yes! Paris in winter is as elegant and vibrant and warm (as in welcoming, not temperature) as I had hoped. You've just got to love a city where men compliment you on your red lips and sequin skirt, and tell you that your accent is "trop mignon". I hope you have enjoyed these photos and the experience as much as I have!

Well Grounded

Jessica Simpson boots, DIY skirt and thrifted cashmere sweater

Date night with my man. I love the combination of these huge chunky boots juxtaposed against the light as air tulle. I kept things warm with an over-sized cashmere sweater. For some reason my outfit (which I loved!) drew in some pretty interesting stares and whispers. Still trying to figure out what did it. Was it the skirt, the boots, or the combo?
Sorry about the slightly grainy photos, nighttime photography isn't my camera's strong suit (although to its credit, I will say that it was completely dark outside, and some how it produced a blue nighttime sky, sans flash...)

Proper? Polka Dots

Forever 21 pearl clutch (gifted to me from my bestie!), Jessica Simpson heels

It seems to me that there really is nothing more fun than slightly inappropriate ensemble of polka dots. With a high neckline, and an Easter Sunday-like sash, tossed together with a certain je ne sais quoi of Pretty Woman (remember the dress worn for the derby scene?), this dress was begging to have it's slip hiked up.
Wish granted.

Stars and Miu Miu's

Miu Miu heels

Oh this weather. It's starting to get to me. Last week, we got a tornado in my town!
I got these adorable socks a few weeks ago, and I am surprised at just how many outfits they take to "another level". They also are the perfect little pick me up for the dark gray days that we have been having lately.
Dear readers, I hope things are sunnier where you are!

AllSaints // Leather Jackets

It was a mid Sunday morning when my boyfriend uttered the most romantic words that one could in such a situation: "Man, I really need some new clothes."
Now, don't get me wrong! I don't meddle in the dressing of my man. However during our traditional Sunday morning breakfast, I came across an e-mail from AllSaints and their new line up of menswear. It may be time to meddle. Have you seen their leather jackets? (Or better yet, have you watched the video on the welcome page? Sexy.)

Dark, brooding, and sexy in a causal "I was born this good" kind of way, it was hard not to fall for the textured leathers and asymmetric zippers. AllSaints men's jackets are streamlined and structured with clean lines, and generous necklines have me wishing that Fermin's closet was stocked with new clothes: so that I could wear them myself. It's the rebellious rock star attitude that makes AllSaints fashion fun, and it's the crisp military style that keeps it classic and wearable for years to come. And, who wouldn't want these pieces in their closet as permanent staples?
Be sure to check out their menswear, and let me know what you think! After all, we could all use a shot of AllSaints clothing in our closets (or least their models!).

Cherry Blossoms of Spring

Zara hat and shoes

The weather in Northern California has been a bit insane lately. One day, it's warm, clear skies and little birds singing...and today we had a "mini" (??) tornado.
How have you been my dear readers? Life for me has been a bit of a roller coaster. I now have two jobs (one is a dream job, but on commission, the other I loathe with a passion but it's hourly and commission). I have decided that I really want this blog to become the very best that it can be, and it's going to take some work (like all things worth while do). A lot of things on my plate! My head is still very much in Paris, and I am glad to say that I think the city has captured my boyfriends heart as well. I will never ever have to hear "It's just another city" from him again. [Score.]
Spring is just around the corner; Can you feel it?

Helping Japan

Friday, March 11th 2011 was a tearful morning for me. It was 5 am my time, and my boyfriend woke me up with a message that my mother had left on his cell phone. My phone was charging on silent, and I had received several missed calls from my close friends, and my mother. "Tsunami" was the text. "Ohmygod, Hawai'i." I thought, and my heart jumped into my throat. I flipped on the television and what was plastered across the news was absolute panic and heartbreak: Japan was being torn apart with water, death, and fear. Hawai'i had mild tsunamis, yes. However my frantic calls, tweets and messages, thank God, were unneeded.
I wish I could say the same for Japan. My heart goes out to Japan, and it aches because I know that my heartache is not enough.
We can help. Dare I say it is in the name of humanity that we do help.
We have options. You can donate through the American Red Cross, PayPal, you can also donate through texting. Text SUPPORT to 85944 to donate through ADRA. For a list of other texting donating services, please visit : HERE
We must do what we are able.

Paris Photo Joural, pt 2

The night before we left for Paris, my boyfriend watched Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations, Paris (the first one, not the second). In the espisode Mr. Bourdain says something along the lines of "If you want the best, freshest bread in Paris, you have to get up at the crack of dawn." My boyfriend, bless his heart, took it literally.
He woke me up at 3 am, our first morning in Paris with the delicately, oh so romantic uttering of "I want bread
I tried to tell him that no place would be open. I didn't care what Mr. Bourdain had said. It didn't matter. Out of bed we rolled, and into the streets we went. "Bonsoir" the men on the streets said. "SEE? These people haven't even gone to BED yet. They are still up from the day before. No bakery is open." And indeed, no bakery was.
But getting to watch a city fall asleep, and then wake up again? Completely worth it. We watched teens hop the fences surrounding the Sacre Coeur, while early risers climbed the steps to attend mass.  Paris is full of harmonizing opposites that tug at the loose strings of your heart, and make it whole.
